Greg Snow takes an early lead as Safari Tour moves to Vipingo Ridge

Muthaiga Golf Club player Greg Snow raced to an early lead on the opening day of the Safari Tour at the par 72 Vipingo Ridge taking a one-shot lead after shooting level par.

Snow who missed the Tour opener in Limuru shot an identical 36 on the front and back nine for a narrow lead over in-form Mike Kisia. The Vetlab player who was the highest placed local player in the last outing, overcame a slow start to post one over 73 and stay only a shot behind. Youngsters Mutahi Kibugu and Daniel Nduva are tied in third alongside veterans Dismas Indiza and Ugandan Deo Akope on two over par 74.

Fresh from a dominant display in the Limuru opener, the Zimbabwean trio of Nyasha Muyambo, Robson Chinhoi and Visitor Mapwanya had a rough time at Vipingo carding high scores of 75, 77 and 81 respectively. Six players exited the tournament today after missing the +12 cutline. Among the casualties include David Wakhu, John Karichu, James Karanja, Promise Silla and debutant Irene Nakalembe from Uganda.

A total of 51 players, including four amateurs, teed it up in the second leg of the Safari Tour whose winner will take home Kshs 330,000. The field will be reduced further to 20 players plus ties after tomorrows round.
